Advanced Typography

There is more to typography than meets the eye.

There are some rules that we must follow to create the best type possible:
- Flush Left, Rag right (Easier to read).
- Limit your typefaces.
- Skip a weight (eg light — bold) so you must pick a good font family.
- Double/Half point size (30pt title, 15pt)
- Widows & Orphans
- Prioritise Readability
- Large text must be kerned (headings need manually ajusting)
- Print it out (helps spot errors)
If these rules are followed, this will mean you will be able to create a much more professional design. I will refer to this blog a lot during my current editorial project at uni and I don’t doubt that I will refer back to this in the future as well.
