There is more to typography than meets the eye.

There are some rules that we must follow to create the best type possible:

  • Flush Left, Rag right (Easier to read).
  • Limit your typefaces.
  • Skip a weight (eg light — bold) so you must pick a good font family.
  • Double/Half point size (30pt title, 15pt)
  • Widows & Orphans
  • Prioritise Readability
  • Large text must be kerned (headings need manually ajusting)
  • Print it out (helps spot errors)

If these rules are followed, this will mean you will be able to create a much more professional design. I will refer to this blog a lot during my current editorial project at uni and I don’t doubt that I will refer back to this in the future as well.
